JAVORINA FURNITURE CARE

Natural wax-based oils are currently the predominant finish for solid wood furniture. The oil enhances the natural beauty of the wood and has the practical advantage of being easy to maintain and restore damaged surfaces.

ROUTINE MAINTENANCE OF SOLID WOOD FURNITURE

For routine cleaning, we recommend wiping furniture with a dry or damp soft cotton or microfiber cloth. Oiled surfaces do not provide as much protection against moisture and mechanical damage as painted surfaces, so it is recommended to remove any dirt (food, liquids) as soon as possible.

If necessary, we recommend to treat the surface with our original oils, or with a product containing natural oils or beeswax, e.g. Pronto wood treatment, following the instructions on the product. Always wipe the surface dry after using such a product.

HOME CARE

Oak furniture is a living part of the home. Its surface deserves care just like our skin. With the purchase of our furniture, you have received a JAVORINA CARE package that can be used both as part of routine maintenance to aesthetically revive the surface and in the event of light damage.

Before you start treating a damaged surface as part of your home care, it is a good idea to define the extent of the damage and consider whether it would be more appropriate to leave the job in the hands of our experts.

HOME CARE IS APPROPRIATE FOR THE FOLLOWING DAMAGES:

  • Drawn on with crayons, pens,
  • markers "rings" from liquids such as coffee, wine, tea, etc,
  • fine scratches from rings, but also from other metal objects
  • the surface is damaged by unsuitable cleaning agents,
  • shallow grooves.

HOME CARE IS NOT SUITABLE FOR THESE DAMAGES:

  • Deep grooves,
  • the surface is badly damaged,
  • the area is too large,
  • the surface is too rugged (chairs).

If you have any doubts about the damage to your furniture, please contact us by filling in the contact form or on phone number +421 919 044 989. We will be happy to advise you. If necessary, we will arrange a professional renovation. Our technicians are highly skilled and have extensive experience in refurbishing different types of surfaces and their level of damage. HOME RENOVATION PROCEDURE

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

After oil treatment, be sure to soak the used means (sponge, cloths) in water, there is a risk of spontaneous combustion. The risk of spontaneous combustion is high with the COFFEE oil shade. Take extra care when working with it.

Always take extra care by thoroughly ventilating the room and wearing protective latex gloves.

After use, do not store the oil bottle near electrical equipment. Properly recycle them according to the instructions in the instruction manual.

WHAT TO PREPARE BEFORE TREATING THE SURFACE
  • JAVORINA CARE package,
  • the room where you will treat the furniture (a well-ventilated room),
  • protective equipment (latex gloves, newspaper to pad the furniture and protect the floor, carpets...),
  • furniture to be treated,
  • At least 5 litre container filled with cold water,
  • wooden skewer for mixing the oil (in case of NATUR oil).

Treatment instructions

  1. Put newspaper under the furniture to be treated.
  2. Put on protective gloves and open the window.
  3. Clean the surface with a damp cloth dipped in soapy water to remove dirt such as grease, moisture.
  4. Clean the surface with a dry cotton cloth to remove dirt such as grease, moisture, etc.
SANDING
  1. Take a sanding sponge and sand the entire contact area with even strokes (not circular) in the direction of the grain. Do not press too hard, the movements should be light so that the surface is sanded gradually and evenly.
  2. Wipe off the resulting wood dust with a dry cotton cloth.
OILING
  1. Make sure you have an open window.
  2. Shake the oil container for 30 seconds - the pigments in coloured oils, sit to the bottom of the bottle and need to be shaken/mixed thoroughly before applying.
  3. Open the container.
  4. In the case of NATUR oil, which is very viscous, stir with a wooden skewer. If you have another oil, skip this point.
  5. Take the foam sponge and apply a layer of oil on it.
  6. Working in a circular motion, work the oil into the surface so that the entire surface (not just part of it) is oiled. Try not to allow too much build-up, called run-off.
  7. Gently wipe the excess oil from the entire surface with a cotton cloth.
  8. Throw the sponge and the cotton cloth out of the oil into a container of water so that they are completely submerged. If you do not put them in the water, there is a risk of spontaneous combustion.
  9. Recycle used refurbishing agents according to the recommendations below.
OTHER TIPS
  1. For coloured oils, it is advisable to apply the oil quickly and completely, ideally rubbing it into the wood grain with a sponge.
  2. Allow the oil to soak into the wood for approximately 2 minutes and gently wipe off any excess oil with a cotton cloth.
  3. Wipe the surface, including the edges, gently with the cloth, do not press or polish unnecessarily.
RECYCLING USED TOOLS

Take care not to store unused oil residues for a long time! It should be disposed of as hazardous waste. The cotton cloth or sponge/sponge you used to apply the oil is highly flammable and is also classified as hazardous waste. Therefore, it is important that you soak them completely whole in a container of water immediately after use. Take the used tools to the nearest collection yard.

AFTER OILING, GIVE THE FURNITURE TIME

Important: the oil provides full protection only after it has fully cured, for which the oil manufacturer specifies 14 days. By this time, it is dry, durable, non-staining, non-colour changing and non-abrasive after 24 hours. However, in wet conditions it may be more prone to stain formation when cleaned with wet agents.

FIRST AID FOR IMPROPER USE OF OIL
